Mat Certification

The Transformational Course for every Fitness Professional:  Intensive Mat-Plus (IMP)

IMP provides you with the solid foundation and skills you need to develop effective and motivating group and personal training programs. At the end of the course you will be qualified to design and teach essential and intermediate level Matwork classes, integrating small equipment to add variety and meet the specific needs of your clients.

In addition to the general course objectives you will learn:

  • Workout composition for personal and group training
  • Essential, intermediate and power workouts
  • Use of the Flex-band® exerciserFitness Circle® resistance ring and Arc Barrel to enhance, support and intensify strength and flexibility exercises

Course Duration: 40 hours of instruction and supervised teaching, plus a minimum of 10 hours of observation, 30 hours of physical review and 15 hours of practice teaching. The course is conducted over two weeks or three weekends.

Prerequisites: A working knowledge of functional anatomy, 30 hours of Pilates training, and three-plus years teaching movement or fitness.  It is not uncommon for a motivated, hardworking student to begin this work with only two of the three suggested requirements.  We encourage you to submit an application and then discuss your complete background, qualifications, and level of interest with Marshall.   There are options for completing any missing elements based on your background and motivation
