Marshall Eklund PILATES Studio is San Diego County’s only STOTT PILATES™ licensed facility.

STOTT PILATES* is a contemporary approach to the original mind-body exercise method pioneered by Joseph Pilates. A progression in Pilates that incorporates modern exercise science and rehabilitation principles, STOTT PILATES is a safe and effective low-impact way to stretch, strengthen and streamline your body. Among Pilates studios in San Diego, Marshall Eklund PILATES Studio stands alone as a STOTT PILATES licensed facility. STOTT PILATES is internationally renowned for the quality of its training. STOTT PILATES certified instructors are among the most sought after Pilates teachers in the world. Developed by former professional dancer, Moira Merrithew, along with input from sports medicine professionals, STOTT PILATES is a contemporary, anatomically-based approach to Joseph Pilates’ original exercise method. STOTT PILATES integrates proper breathing with an awareness of spinal positioning and activation of postural muscles that results in functional strength and dynamic flexibility. STOTT PILATES requires the mind and body to work together to achieve balance. STOTT PILATES emphasizes fluid movements that activate various muscle groups in one exercise, requiring concentration as you challenge the body. Training the mind to focus on proper breathing, muscle activation, and spinal positioning helps you to move more gracefully and efficiently throughout all of your daily activities.

One of the greatest benefits of STOTT PILATES is strengthening the “core,” the muscles of the abdominal region and lower back. As weaker areas gain strength and less flexible regions gain mobility, your body will maintain better alignment and balance. This greater strength and flexibility of the core diffuses tension and stress from the spinal column, thus reducing pain and fatigue. Most significantly, this will improve posture and dramatically reduce chronic lower back discomfort.

STOTT PILATES is a highly specialized type of training you simply can’t find at other studios and gyms in San Diego. For more on STOTT PILATES please visit www.STOTTPILATES.com.

facility

STOTT PILATES is an amazing exercise program that creates true strength and flexibility, improving muscle tone and posture while flattening your stomach and increasing back strength. Unlike traditional exercise that tends to compartmentalize strength, flexibility and stability, STOTT PILATES combines all elements by requiring the body to move correctly while in a variety of movement patterns and positions. To perform these movements correctly, flexibility, joint stability and muscular strength merge to yield functional fitness. Without this combination, a person is weak, stiff, and unstable, conditions which lead to some breakdown, injury or dysfunction of the body.

STOTT PILATES has broken the work down to essential, intermediate, and advanced exercises to safely and effectively challenge the first-time exerciser and the long-time fitness fan. In fact, our more mature clients (70’s and 80’s) find monumental fitness gains in the safe and effective STOTT PILATES essential exercises. Many of our clients are amazed that through continual practice they are able to perform advanced Pilates work, which brings to mind the amazing grace and powerful movements of a Cirque du Soleil performer.
