Alyssa grew up in Santa Rosa, CA. At the age of three she put on her first pair of ballet slippers and it seems they never came off. She has crossed-trained in ballet and Pilates for the past 12 years, and truly believes that Pilates has helped her maintain the overall strength and stability that is needed to be successful in dance.
Alyssa received the Dean’s Scholarship for Distinction in the Arts at California State University, Long Beach. She attended CSULB for three and a half years on a full scholarship and graduated with a BFA in Dance. She moved to San Diego in 2002 and joined the California Ballet Company. She danced professionally for the past three years and has since retired. Alyssa studied Pilates at the Marshall Eklund PILATES Studio for two years and received her full STOTT PILATES™ Level 2 Certification. Alyssa earned the prestigious title of STOTT PILATES Instructor Trainer in 2006.
Alyssa began working at Marshall Eklund PILATES Studio in May of 2004. Of her experience working in the studio she states, “the staff is incredible and the studio has a welcoming atmosphere that is one of a kind.” Alyssa believes in Pilates and the effects it has on every body type. She loves watching bodies change and helping people feel better about themselves. Alyssa is married to Brent Jones, an engineer at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. Her favorite food is her Mom’s homemade spaghetti and her favorite drink is a sour apple martini. A little known fact about Alyssa is that she once worked in her father’s hardware store and knows her way around the tool shed. Today, Alyssa enjoys fixing up her home with all of the tools her father taught her how to use. |
